pebbles

This was my fourth attempt on the wheel today. After the first three failures, I took a break to watch the "quick method" demo that came with my wheel. Watching someone throw correctly helped immensely.

Today, I felt like a fool for attempting to master this skill. Then I thought of this poem, which offers an encouraging message and (through its context) puts my own small struggles in their place.

  1. I am glad that you are sharing your beginnings in pottery, it will be a help and encouragement to the many folk that I hope will visit your site. I enjoyed the poem very much. It is certainly a good way of dealing with "mountains", and something I need reminding of a lot of the time. There are many mountains to climb in pottery, but the climbs are rewarding, the air is fresh, and the views are wonderful!

Thanks for following my site. Can I put a link to your site from mine?

    Best Wishes, P.

I am happy to see that there are so many professional potters who also blog. What a great source of inspiration!

  5. Great poem, I'll keep it in my memory. When I start to get overwhelmed with things I try to take the advice of author Annie Lamont and take things "Bird By Bird."
You'll get it, it looks like you have a great start.
    And thanks for following me.

  6. The poem is beautiful.

"Bird by Bird" has been on my reading list for a while. Looks like I should move it to the top of the list!
